Winter Cold & Flu Potpourri Blend

Filed under: Frugal Homestead, Homemade Clean, Homestead Simplicity! — Lisa @ 8:26 am

When colds and flu abound in the winter, I’ll get a batch of my Winter Cold Blend going in my ―big ol‘ pot on the woodstove.

Fill that big ol‘ pot with water. Add: 2 droppers full of eucalyptus essential oil 5 drops of peppermint essential oil 1 dropper full of lavender essential oil 5 drops tea tree oil 5 drops clove oil Let it simmer and fill the air! You could also modify this receipt and use any of these you have on hand.

This makes for a great steam treatment blend too. This will clear a stuffy nose in no time!

A Quote for the day…

Time Is:
Too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice,
But for those who love,
Time is Eternity.

Natural Clean Tip of the Day

Scalp issues? Dandruff? Try a white vinegar rinse in the shower!

Serious Dandruff? Try this homemade recipe that really works!

Fill a Quart Glass canning jar about 2/3rd with Apple Cider Vinegar, and add a 1/4 to 1/2 Cup of each of the following: Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. Put the lid on tight, shake and set in a sunny window and let set for 2 weeks or so, shake each time you walk by :)   Strain and use as a rinse–it WORKS wonders!

I keep a Quart of this ‘brew’ going all the time, it is great for getting hair and scalp squeeky clean!
