Springtime at the Homestead

Spring is here–and yesterday it actually felt a bit ’summer-esque’ around here! Brilliant sunshine, children playing in the sprinkler, clothes flappin’ in the breeze….heavenly!

Sure has been busy though!  The canner seems to always be steaming lately, planting  seeds for starts, finishing up the last part of our homeschool year, baby goat kids, chickies…but its a ‘good’ busy…blessingly busy (is that correct english?)…oh well. ;)

This year, dh is putting in a nice big garden spot! WooHOO!

Up here in the mountain foothills we’re still getting freezing / frost overnight–hence the pictures taken from the house here–it was cold that day! ;) Our sweet neighbor has come down with his tractor/tiller and went over this spot a few times–the soil is gorgeous rich black soil–of course we’d been dumping all our barn goodies in there for awhile too–so it’s ready to go!  I’ll have to take more pics today–the fenceposts are almost all in and we’re SOoooo close to being able to plant out there!  Today is supposed to be more glorious weather, so I better skeeeeedaddle–it’s preparation day–and Fridays are always such a ‘good busy’!  Happy Spring all!
