Homestead Tip of the day…

Want to SPRING CLEAN those windows and mirrors? The easiest, cheapest ol’ fashion clean will come with a couple old rags and straight white vinegar. Yup, it can be that simple.

Just take a couple old rags (cut up old towels work great!) dab a little straight vinegar on one–and wipe/scrub your glass, then wipe dry and you will see the cleanest glass ever!

I just did a few of my windows last week and we’ve been getting some glorious sunshine lately — you could really see all the fingerprints, etc–not now–they are crystal clean and I can SEE thru ‘em ! Imagine that?!

Hopefully this week I can get to the rest of the windows–this is an EXCELLENT, cheap, non toxic, SIMPLE window and glass cleaner!

Stockpile Vinegar — it is cheap and has SO MANY uses!!!

Frugal Cleaning Tip for the Homestead

Vinegar is SO very all purpose, so many uses!  If you want a simple and extremely cheap way to clean mirrors and glass–take an old cloth, dump a little vinegar on a corner of it and wipe / clean away!  Dry and look at the sparkle!

Homemade Remedy for Dry Scalp

As the weather cools down, we have our wood stove going, and even though we keep a kettle of water on the stove at all times to keep what moisture we can in the air– the air gets DRY!  This not only is drying to the skin, but the scalp!

So….if you have Scalp issues or Dandruff, try a white vinegar rinse in the shower!

Serious Dandruff? Try this homemade recipe that really works!

Fill a Quart Glass canning jar about 2/3rd with Apple Cider Vinegar, and add a 1/4 to 1/2 Cup of each of the following: Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme. Put the lid on tight, shake and set in a sunny window and let set for 2 weeks or so, shake each time you walk by :)   Strain and use as a rinse–it WORKS wonders!

I keep a Quart of this ‘brew’ going all the time, it is great for getting hair and scalp squeeky clean!
